How to take a foam impression?
- Have the patient sit close to the edge of the chair with the feet flat on the floor.
Putting on a sock and pulling it up to avoid puckering the foam, place the heel of one foot almost touching the edge of the foam. Hips, knees, and ankles should form a 90-degree angle to the sides.
The toes should not touch the upper edge.
- Ask the patient to relax. Using your right and left hands, push your feet evenly and thoroughly into the foam by applying downward pressure on your knees and feet. Make sure your toes don’t touch the edge of the box.
- Repeat steps 1 – 2 with the other foot, working in the opposite direction
